Why creativity?

At Our Room we believe that participation in the arts and in Manchester’s extensive cultural scene is a right of everyone we work with. Whilst few people would argue the right to social care support, our need for the arts and creativity is often overlooked.

Fundamental to how we work is the need for joy and laughter. We offer a safe place in which participants can be themselves, have a laugh, make positive connections and re-imagine their lives.

We always have staff from the Support and Advocacy team in our sessions, so participants can chat to them or make an appointment to discuss any issues

“Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.” – United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 27
